hello!

my name is amanda and i am the owner and photographer here at backcountry portraiture.

i'm an idaho native that was born and raised in sweetwater, idaho and i live and work in lewiston, idaho currently. 

i'm a mother to two amazingly gifted, talented, hilarious, and loving kiddos and the best life partner who supports my dreams and helps make them possible. most of our free time is spent fishing, hunting, exploring, and adventuring. you can find us up hells canyon or on the clearwater, on the beach in mexico, slaying sockeye salmon on the kenai river in alaska, at a mariner's game, or curled up at home watching tv. *we love to travel and i'm always willing to travel literally anywhere to take photos for your family!*

i first got into photography in junior high and even more into it in high school, taking photography classes there and through lcsc. once I had children of my own, i realized how important photography and capturing each and every stage is. i got my first dslr camera and started diving head first into the world of portrait photography. i tried starting a photography business, but with two babies a year apart, plus working and going to college full time, i didn't have the times or resources to commit to it. now i'm back and have taken many classes and trainings with some big name photographers.

i've spent the last 6+ years working in elementary special education and also worked at the northwest children's home here in lewiston for part of that time. i have experience working with children of all abilities and backgrounds. *i do offer discounted sessions for special needs families in and around the lc valley and i will always do my best to work with your family to ensure a sensory friendly session based on your child's specific needs to be able to create beautiful memories of every child and family!*

i have a cozy little studio in beautiful downtown lewiston located at 621 main street suite d. i also love doing outdoor sessions in all the beautiful locations we are surrounded by in every direction here in the lc valley or at your home or property.
